Sagan needs to stop looking around. He's not f-ing Andy Schleck.

I hope that someone gives that photographer a beating.

I'm a bit confused cos the overhead showed it happening alongside Boonen, whilst the motorbike seemed to show Boonen coasting to a stop whilst the incident was ahead. I guess it wasn't Boonen in the ground shot.

Boonen went early and held on. Looked strong. Coming into form nicely for next weekend?

That was Brilliant! Tornado Boonen came up to his reputation.

I'm a happy bunny. My FP was right for once! Very Happy

I think Boonen turned around and went back after he crossed the line. The overhead showed that the photographer had stepped out to get a photo and was too busy doing that and not watching the other riders. Shades of Jaja.

Tom you old bandit!  After he said in Cycle Sport that Gent Wevelgem was a 'shit' race and the best thing to do was ride E3 on Saturday and stay at home on Sunday I decided not to back him or FP him.  Two nice markers put down by two of the principals for next week though.  Fab and Tom toe-to-toe again next week?

Nothing to say about Cavs hissy fit after the crash MJM?
Mrs John Murphy

I'm afraid I missed Frodo's crash and only caught the last 10km. Do fill us in.
gerry12ie

A tangle of wheels with 20K to go and he lost the rag with a Movistar rider, shouting and waving his arms around.  He shouldn't have been caught at the back anyway.

He'd been at the back since a "mechanical" (also known as the Kemmelberg)
Didn't really crash, it seemed to me. Bit of a tangle with Ventoso?, hopped off and seemed to lose his bike in the grass after his hissy fit with all and sundry!
Hard to tell how his bike got damaged.

He's not having much luck this year though, is he?

Bennati now officially owns Henny Haussler's Mr Second Place title.

Oh and once again, a photographer causes a crash just after the finish line.
Stupid idiot filming in the middle of the road, brings down Duque and Offredo; who came off worst.
Bartali

In fairness to the photographer he was stood where he should have been. Thats not to say he couldn't have moved....

Yeah he was behind his line. If he was looking through his camera though then he might not even have seen him. The trouble might be the photographers on the other side of the road breaking their line and forcing the cyclists to the right of the road.
HuwB

The same problem that they had a couple of years ago. The bunch photographers on that side edge out into the road.
However, that line on the other side is way too close to the finish line.
What would happen there, if the whole peloton came in together?
A human funnel? daft.
Boogerd_Fan

Cav should check in to a road rage therapy group... based on that pic and his press conference.

yes Ventoso it was. damn cavendish taking out my pick and that was the reason my fp was not successful today Wink

it seemed that the crashed was caused in front of them but ventoso was the target of cavendish's abuse
Me, a fan?

I just can't get used to the idea of Hushovd working for anybody in this type of race.  Garmin's got a lot of faith in Tyler and aren't afraid to waste the efforts of the world champion.  I hope Thor has a big W to his name at the end of spring.

On that note, once again I don't see how Cancellara won't totally obliterate the field whenever he chooses to in the next two Biggies.  The tactic for non-Fabiens is going to be something like pray for a mechanical or wild dog interference.
Me, a fan?

Oh, and good win for Tom!

That's the last thing the non-Fabiens will be doing.  A mechanical will only mean the Big Swiss will have an excuse to change to his 'special' bike!!   Wink

Saturday was inhuman. Maybe we're witnessing the next step in mankind's evolution and in a million years time we'll all be homofabiens Wink

I'll get my coat Embarassed

As daft as it is, the photographer funnel seems to be a standard configuration. I'm surprised there aren't more crashes, but all those people that are putting money into the sport want their team jerseys in the morning paper, CN or wherever, and the only way you get the standard shot that we're used to seeing is for the photographer to stand in the road.

When I've been at these things in person (on the spectator side of the railing) I've noticed that there are two types of photographer. Professional ones that are dedicated sports photographers (and most likely dedicated cycling photographers) and those that look like they've got a finish pass by virtue of writing for the local free newspaper. They're the ones that are most likely the problem.

50 kms of De Panne stage 1 left if anyone is around:
