OK, seeing as it's nearly the silly season, we'll do the U 23's RR and TT as well.

excellent, that'll mean i'll get 0 points in 6 events rather then 4

Slapshot 3
|
First stab;
Womens TT - Emma Pooley
Womens Road Race - Nicole Cook
Mens TT - Fabian Cancellara (though I'd love Brad to spring a surprise)
Mens Road Race - Damiano Cunego
U23 TT - don't know
U23 RR - Don't know yet
Question: Do Protour/Continental riders under 23 qualify or do they have to go in the big boys races??
|
kathy
|
Slapshot, I think, but don't quote me on this, that Protour riders have to go in the senior race, but all others can go in U23, provided they qualify on age of course. So I would assume Gesink can't go in the U23, but Ben Swift, for example, could.

U 23 ITT Taylor Phinney Although tempted by Le Bon
U 23 RR Jack Bobridge Although tempted by Sicard or Kennaugh
Women's ITT Gotta go with Longo on account of she is my idol. And it would be totally cool if she beat all the kids.
Women's RR Maybe change to Vos, as I have no idea about the form of Cooke, and Vos seems to be overwhelmingly the best.
Free tip for RR, is FERRIER-BRUNEAU Christel who has relations in the next village to my town. She looks very fit.
I suppose it is not too odd that I have never heard of many of the non Anglo speakers, except the French. I only read those two languages.

Millar for the mens ITT.
Mens RR....
1. Wiggins
2. Evans
3. little Sammy Sanchez.
No idea for the ladies but I'd like Pooley to win both. Similarly Kennyog for the lads.
(of course, that's assuming they're riding - I notice GB have 14 riders registered for the road race, does anyone know how many berths GB have qualified for?)

Nine I think. BTW, Brad has opted out of the RR to concentrate on the TT - story on CN today, I think.

Only one so far, The Elite Time Trial and the British Champion FP ... Bradley Wiggins, please
Sorry but I'm going to poach a bit of space here.
Wiggins beat Micheal Hutchinson for the title a couple of weeks ago.
Well last Sunday Hutch was beaten again (this time a 25 mile TT) by a former Professional, 36 year old Irishman David McCann riding for the Phoenix CC, who won in a time of 45mins 54secs.
This is 3secs faster than Chris Boardmans Competition Record set in 1993.
Be Lucky .....thanks for the space as I havn't seen this anywhere here.

Where Have you got this information about Taylor Phinney.? According to the official UCI list, he's riding
If he isn't, I'll have Jonathon Castroviejo, for no other reason than that I've actually heard of him
Well, he's not on the list either, so I'll go with Jimmi Sorensen - sounds as if he comes from a good cycling family!

If we have 9 riders, please can i swap Wiggs to the ITT and have Cav for the RR? If he's not there, I'll go for Hagen Daaz, If he's not there, I'll go for the German National Champ - forget his name but he was V impressive in the TOB.

I have read now in several other places that the two for the USA are Tee Jay something and Peter Stetina, besides the PDF file that is the official list of starting order> Still, at this moment the ITT is underway, so too late for any changes.

Sorry Kathy,
I've KOD'd myself lol!
I think a Canuck might win the women's RR, and only an idiot would bet against Fab Can to do the double (assuming he's going for it?), but I'll stick with what I've got and just add Martin Reimer to the junior RR - unless he's out or I've missed it!
9 GB riders? How times change. (Hope Southam or Wegelius aren't in there - cause some things don't change )

OK - some insider trading methinks.
What's going on kathy or have I missed something, as you seem to know this rider and we all know him now.
I watched the streaming for over an hour and was not impressed with his wandering of the front and looking around several times and when a rider or two caught him he seemed reluctant to work.
I thought another Evans in the making.
Then the last lap and I eat my words as he is fully committed to working with Kreder the Dutchman and as Kreder put the pressure on he realised that he himself had much more than Kreder.
He then just rode away up the climb with pure "Class" and was still motoring at the Finish.
On reflection my early assesment was in error because I didn't know he was in charge and wanted some worthwhile company to work with.
Brilliant and that will get the French going about him being the next whoever.
Be Lucky .... and Congratulations.

Would Dimitri Champion for tomorrow be too fearless? A French 1-2 and 'amateur' to boot?
OK ...Thor Hushovd please kathy (not that my choice is relevant but it's a bit like the Grand National innit?)

I would like to change my pick for the RR. Everyone says Schleck has no team and no chance. I guess I think that must be so. I can't really decide between the Italians and the Spanish. I guess I think maybe the Spanish are stronger, and that given the last descent, the winner by a suicidal descent will be
S Sanchez, my man for the day.
Although I will be annoyed if Cunego pips him at the end.

Mr Shifter, I first came across Romain Sicard about six months ago when it was announced that he would ride for Euskaltel next season. He is a French Basque and currently rides for Orbea. He recently won the Tour de l'Avenir, so was obviously in good form. He was also won of the few riders I'd ever heard of in that race
This has been edited. I was answering the wrong person

How about Spartacus descending and Sammy trying to hold on (yes he did hold on) and almost hit a wall and then a barrier and then had to make up ground.
