So have the real sprinters given up and decided that they can't beat Sagan overall in it so why exert the energy to go for the sprints when the stage win is at the line apart from coquard, who isn't a big sprinter*

With the intermediate points and especially with mountainous stages, it makes it very difficult for someone to surpass sagan?

to be a big sprinter, he has to beat the big sprinters there. so far apart from 2 wins in etoile de besseges in february against bouhanni and degenkolb and a stage of tour de picardie last year against kittel, he doesn't have the palmares of beating the big sprinters)

But isn't that the point?  Sagan isn't a big sprinter so will never win the stages that Kittel and Cavendish will win ... but he can fight for the points jersey?

I really don't like thinking about the points jersey as the sprinters jersey.  It should be scrapped for every km of the way tho sprints, breaks, intermediate spinets etc.  IMO it should be a real scrap ... not automatically to the best sprinter (who is rewarded with stage victories)

it is not impossible that Kittel will win all the flat stages.. what's that 8 or 9 of them?? Could be 350-400pts.

Sagan will still have to be on very good form fighting for every intermediate sprint to get such a total too.

If Kittel were smart he would be looking to get some intermediate points too. Looks like that he is not interested in the Green Jersey for some reason? Forum Index -> The 3 GT´s
