Di Luca EPO positive!

Well we couldn't have a GT go by without a rest day dope fail. Clown.
mazda

Di Luca insisted that his strong performances were explicable by “training well all winter”

A familiar euphemism.

and said that he hoped to continue racing for two more years.

I doubt it.
MAILLOT JAUNE

I think Luca Scinto describes him perfectly:
"he's a cretino ........."

I don't speak Italian, but it's obvious what he means!
gerry12ie

Serial gobshite - good riddance.
HuwB

I said it as soon as he returned.
First race out and he was on the front, killing an entire peloton, on a big climb.
He's not alone at Vini.
If Santambrogio is clean, I'm a monkey's uncle. (not a W champs! Razz )

Didn't Di Luca do the whole pious bullshit on his last comeback, tearfully 'confessing' his doping sins to 500 schoolkids in front of a Catholic priest?

Tosser.

I picked him for my fantasy team, thinking he would get enough points before failing a test! I left Scarponi out - didn't think he would make it this far   Confused

Could be an idea for a new fantasy cycling game where you choose a team of likely dopers, and points are awarded for a successful "catch"...  Rolling Eyes
HuwB

Plan "C" for today was obviously the DDL announcement. Laughing

He was ridiculous in both the GP Industria and Giro Toscano, where he got popped.
I watched both.

Di Luca was in the last chance saloon, so it's hardly surprising he chose to throw his favourite dice,
one last time.

You know how it works with the whole Catholic thing - as long as you confess your sins, you can carry on committing them Smile

Il cretino .... just about sums him up!!

This is the least surprising news of this Giro to me!
Boogerd_Fan

as in the doping thread, the surprise for me is however juiced he was, he still wasn't doing anything too significant in this Giro.

A few timed efforts to try to get a stage win, and a top 10 in the MTT yesterday.

Robert Millar's blog about Di Luca is pretty good. He hits the nail on the head:

The Killer's kettle-like eardrums have exploded due to loud pot-like noises emanating from the Texas area...

That's probably the most honest thing I've heard that clown say in 15 years

A bit of Dave Allen's Irish.  Laughing

That's going far into the memory banks! Just about have hazy memories. His Wiki page probably explains why:

Quote:
Allen's trademark satirising of religious ritual, especially Catholic, throughout each episode caused minor controversy, which coupled with sometimes comparatively frank material, earned the show a risqué reputation. In 1977, the Irish state broadcaster RTÉ placed a de facto ban on Allen.
ullrichfan

Then you should have watched the superb BBC documentary on him that aired recently: God's Own Comedian!  I just checked and it's not on iplayer, sadly.  However, you might catch a repeat somewhere.

I remember watching Dave Allen as a kid...took me a while to realise he was on whisky the wole time and a bit of his finger was missing.... odd recollections I know.

My old man is a typical blue-nosed bigot from the west coast of Scotland and he loved Dave Allen primarily because he took the piss out of the Catholic Church and all things related. I'd hoped generation would move on but the bigotry in Ayrshire is just as bad as it always was...

Ta. I'll keep an eye out for it. iPlayer doesn't like me anyway, but I do get most of the Beeb channels if it gets repeated at some point.

Try this link to be able to get BBC iplayer - it works for me in the Netherlands and when I worked in Ireland:

I know nothing about this stuff.  And if this gets too complicated, will be happy to move to PMs with anyone who wants to help.

Can I use it sometimes when I want to pretend I live in Britain, but normally (as a default) indicate I am in France?  For example, can I download this software, and then turn it on to download films or TV shows from Netflix, which is not available in France yet?  Then turn it off.

Obviously I can watch BBC replays, which I can't do now.

I really don't know why I care where "they" think I live.  Seems more straightforward to be in France, by default.  For example, when I go to England, my "sending mail" suddenly stops working, presumably because some network in the UK, does not have a deal with Orange in France, and so I can receive but not send.  I just would like to turn this software on to download films and TV shows, while I wait for things like Netflix to arrive in France..

Forgive directness, not much sophistication here.
MAILLOT JAUNE

I'm not sure about using it to download films etc from Netflix, I would assume you should be able to do that from anywhere in the world, I've only ever used expatshield for BBC iplayer, which works for me.
If you are in the UK, then you should be able to get BBC iplayer directly off your computer and I you're in France, you should use expat shield to get iplayer.

Figured I'd post here rather than PM as it's possibly useful information even though it's off topic.

I used these people last year especially for watching the Vuelta on ITV and Olympics on BBC (both iPlayer catch-up and live). £5.99 a month for a dynamic IP and no minimum term. You can dip in and out as you please on a month by month basis. You'll note that with 2 simultaneous logins you could even go halves with another ex-pat or the other half could be following her interests independently.

https://vpnuk.info/index.html

This was just before I finished up in Italy. Reliable connection with no bad dropouts that I recall (occasional glitches which I don't know if I put down to poor Telecom Italia DSL connection). Worked well and would have continued to use them here, except that our Cable / ISP provider has a very impressive range of bundled channels so I basically have far more than I can consume now, and I actually watch very little non cycling TV nowadays to feel the need to catch up on lots of things.

It meets the needs you describe easy to turn on and off (you get faster browsing when when not pretending you're somewhere else) - right click on your wireless symbol to log on and off in the windows notification bar. Typing that reminds me you have a Mac, so I'll stop there but I guess you can investigate further in the link provided.

I have tried free proxies to disguise my location before and found them to work but unreliable. That makes sense to me as someone has to provide the intermediate relay server with a lot bandwidth to support the number of users and realistically I don't see how you do that without cash cos advertising isn't that lucrative I think. Maybe I've got that all wrong, but the £6 a month made it a completely different experience.

I haven't tried MJ's suggestion before (thanks for that - I've bookmarked it for future reference).

On the email stuff, it sounds more like a configuration error than a geo restriction. Do you bring a laptop with you, or do you try a www login on a friends PC? Realistically, it's going to be a lot easier to have someone who knows about these things and who can sit with you when you have the problem. I am far from that, but I can usually muddle my way through when there are options in front of me to try.

Thank you very much, MJ.  This works brilliantly, unlike other 'shields', I've tried!
