Coughing

This has always happened to me and has always struck me as odd...

When training whilst suffering from a lingering cough, the act of exercising suppresses the cough completely even in very cold air, but as soon as I stop exercising, coughing resumes, often quite vigorously.

Does anyone else experience this and / or have any idea why it happens? (I can see why coughing would re-start, but not why it would be suppressed.) Intuitively, the act of forcing many times more air up and down your airways than normal, involving quite large temperature variations should make you cough more whilst exercising.

1) Yes, many times after getting a cold.
2) I have no idea why either.

Snap! Not sure if it's anything to do with fog/moisture in the air. My mate always told me not to go out running when it was misty / foggy as it contains dust particles etc... So maybe when you stop exercising the moisture in your lungs condenses and deposits the dust particles then settle in your lungs causing you to cough?????? Dunno, just a thought.
