It's one of those annoying things which I suddenly hear is very good after they have done one and a half series of it and you're not quite sure where to begin. My wife happened to see an episode the other night and she had to watch it to the end she said it was so good. Is there a boxed set of it yet available for people who want to start at the beginning? | ||||

yeah. all 5 seasons. ive started in season 4...as long as u start at the beginning of a season it follows. also all on itunes. its really phenomenal |

I just finished the fifth season. Took a while to watch it all because I only have cheapo netflix. Right now I'm in withdrawal. Awesome stuff. I thought all seasons were great, with season 4 being the highlight. |

4th is simply amazing. its the best season of a tv show Ive ever seen. wait for a rainy weekend...and just load up the DVDs. hw |

Yeah it's great. Can't really talk about it cos I don't want to spoil, but I've seen them all.
Interesting story about Dominic West (McNulty). AFAIK He was born into a big working class Catholic family in Sheffield, UK. He was the youngest. Dad managed to grow his business over the years, and ultimately became very successful making bus stops. By the time West reached secondary school age, Dad was loaded and sent him to Eton wanting the best for his son. West didn't feel like he fitted in (not surprisingly) and took up acting as a escape and a way to be someone else. |

Superficially. I'd say it's more about urban America, institutions effects on the individual, the drug war, political corruption, education, truth. And also Baltimore. The show ran on HBO for five seasons. It's available on DVD now. |
