If you go to the Equipe website, go to the Tour coverage and then click on 'tableau de bord' you get the full updated list of whose in what position and whose abandoned etc. daily on the team list. Invaluable for keeping up with whose in and whose out.
Wonder whether the rest day will bring any bad news?

interesting there was someone out the time limit today, i'd have thought they weren't going fast enough to trouble the autobus.

Napolitano may have fallen asleep.
Giro/Tour: Must be the lowest ever number of abandons, so far, ever!

On Tuesday, before the TTT, Napolitano was pratting around aimlessly on his bike for ages in the Village Depart before the stage started. If he did that every day, he's probably exhausted.

Does anyone know why Pereiro abandoned?

From www.cyclingnews.com:
"The Spaniard of team Caisse d'Epargne said he just did not have the form to complete the race.
“I have had very bad sensations since the Tour started from Monaco," said Pereiro. “It was no use to go on like that and I prefer to concentrate on my next objective which should be the Tour of Spain.”"

Ah! A Cavendish disciple. Abandoning to prepare for another race...
Hang in there Cav, might see you in Paris yet...

Pereiro is still on the road to recovery from the horrilbe accident he had last year. He was dropped very early on the first climb, and obviously wasn't going to make the time limit.

I wouldn't quite put it that way kit. Cav was pulled out of the Tour last year in order to prepare for the Olympics. A lot of sprinters never make it to Paris - Cippollini being a classic example - I believe he never completed a Tour de France, always abandoning as the gradient started increasing.

Cipo was a smart cookie. He probably got more publicity for withdrawing from the TDF to head for the beach than for slogging along for a couple of weeks just to contest the final stage!
He completed the Giro many times, though. Presumably the publicity value for an Italian winning the final stage of the Giro was sufficient to get Cipo reaching for the "small ring".

but why if the Olympics is not even in the top 10 of what you can achieve in cycling?

Depends how you look at it. I think Cav thought that to get an Olympic gold would be something important to him. However, with hindsight he didn't achieve what he set out to. Now, finishing the Tour is extremely important to him.

I believe Cavendish abandoned other races in preparation for another race. Just couldn't remember the races. I'm really disappointed in his tactics. Riders finish the race, and go to the next race spent while Cavendish who earlier abandoned to prepare for that race shows up fresh as a daisy and wins some. It leaves a sour taste in the mouth...

Might do but if that's where the sponsors want him, that's where he goes. The Olympics was special.

Ok. I'm really looking forward to meeting him in Paris. I hope he shows up... Doesn't have to be in green... white and yellow will do....
