2011 review Music, Books, Film and Television

gig wise i believe that this was a weak year. I was at 8 gigs in total, 5 of the gigs where the second or third time of seeing the acts in question. I love music so this is an obvious dissapointment that so few of the gigs interested me this year.
The stand out gig is Sufjan Stevens in the Olympia

Albums this has been a surprisingly good year. It surprised me because earlier in the year i was stuck on what was the best albums of the year but now, i see the good albums were waiting for the second half of the year to be released. my album of the year has been the superb "Songs for the Last Werewolf" by The Real Tuesday Weld

Ddespite the feeling of inadequacy it has put in me, Tea Obreht's masterful The Tiger's Wife is just a superb read. The feeling of inadequacy comes as she was born in 1985 Very Happy

With the introudction of Sky Atlantic here, it has been a boon for us. It has brought such quality as Boardwalk Empire and Bored to Death. It also allowed us cheapskates to see The Pacific Smile

other tv highlights of this year were Parks and Recreations, The Big C, Raising Hope and Nurse Jackie. These are shows that I saw for the first time this year. Burn Notice's fourth season was superb.

Dissapointment is that a second series of Community has not yet made it overhere.

BBC started 2011 with the excellent Episodes and ended it with the awesome Second Season of Rev. However in between there wasn't much for my viewing pleasure.

The movie highlights for me were True Grit, Source Code, Tree of Life, We need to talk about Kevin, Midnight in Paris. Foreign film wise, i enjoyed As if i wasn't there and Preludio very much. A somewhat gentleman was also very good Forum Index -> The Coffee Lounge
