I've tried one but don't get on with it.
I seem to need a saddle with a hole in the middle (for relief)
Otherwise cycling is painful...
I've tried quite a few but haven't quite found the perfect one yet |

Which one? The SLR? That's the one I've not tried; but the Fizik seems way ahead of everything else as far as my backside is concerned. |

Noseless saddle? Now that I'd like to see! Never tried on obviously.
I've used a variety of saddles from Specialized and others, but ended up going back to the WSD saddle my bike came with. |

| I like it because its really flat. I don't like saddles with a high back side. It tends to push me forward too much. I have found the saddle to be comfortable for the use. I've never tried the saddles with the hole down the middle. I've been told that they are comfortable. I used to have issues in the past, but I learned to rotate my hips slightly towards the back of the bike and less pressure is excerted on the sensitive areas. |

| I use an AX Lightness Phoenix - only 47 grammes and comfy enough for me to use it on the Marmotte this year. |

Im not an Arione man...but fizik, yes.
I have 2 Aliante's. Absoultely magic for a saddle. Been through lots, and this took the cake.

Liked the Aliante as well, for many months, but the flow through the pudendal arteries was poor. I found the Specialized Alias (comes in three sizes) to be the best. All male anatomy numbness gone, all arse pain gone, all leg and foot numbness gone. Can't say enough good about it. _________________ END THE MADNESS

For anyone interested in "noseless" saddles, here's a link:
http://www.moonsaddle.com/
The company's tag line is "Feel The Breeze!"
hahahahaha
Yeah, definitely some freedom in that saddle, but I would think it awkward at first.
If anyone's tried this particular brand, please dish.
For women, I recommend Terry; I've tried both the Butterfly Aloha and the Damselfly.
http://www.terrybicycles.com/product.html?c=Saddles
The thing with their women's saddles (they DO make men's saddles too) is that they're designed to support the sit bones.
And this baby definitely got "back". |

I have been thinking about the Terry saddle for a bit, especially since my riding geometry has changed. High kudos from many women about the comfort of the ride.
As for the noseless one? That would be quite the interesting thing to try. Can't tell if it would dig into the back of your thighs though or if your bum just sits on it and the legs are fully free. _________________ "I give up, why a duck?" |

You're a better man than I gunga din! ...that AX lightness looks smashing, but sitting on it scares the hell out of me, and the carbon splintering in a crash would mortify me
Have you seen the new carbon arione with clear gel cover? wonder how that will feel?

Yeah, I love the Arione saddle on my bike. Although I was concerned about the effect of the wet on the leather/suede. However it still seems in good nick.
Does anyone know if the rain would damage the saddle through time? |

Not familiar with rain as I live in the desert, but common sense tells me that rain and leather are not mutually compatible over time.......... _________________ "I give up, why a duck?" |

| I'd go for carbon. My Ax is very light and suprisingly comfortable. Trouble is it cost an 'arm and a leg'! |

| Does anyone know of a treatment to use on the likes of an Arione that will protect it from the wet? |

fizik saddles are generally covered with microtex not leather. Mine have seen a lot of water and never had a problem. clean a ddry witha paper towel after a wet ride and all is well.

Has anybody tried an ISM saddle, specifically intended for triathletes because it has no nose?
