a thread for my observations and anyone elses

some i've collected recently

--------------

I noticed at work someone had their dry cleaning just back from a dry cleaner. On the bag, it was written "Experty dry cleaned by professional" well if you go to a professional and they don't do their job like an expert, it's kind of a rip-off

--------------

in a book shop, i noticed on a book it was written "now a major film". you never really see a book with written on it "now a minor film that really no one has watched and anyone who has were bitterly dissapointed" it's not as catchy is it

-------------

I rang at work a company that deals with a client of ours. the company's accounts recievable section is available all working day. their accounts payable section is only available from 2pm. they know where their priorities lie.

Why do you never see "baby" pigeons

Why are the cars with no lights on when its dusk nearly always the black ones?

their is a cynicism against people who, like me, like to read for fun. i apoligse but that's my idea of good time.

what's also odd is people who protest a bit too much about reading books for fun. a person i work out, in trying to justify him reading a book said "it's not likes it a leisure read"

if you are reading it in your leisure time, it's a leisure read. it's not for school, it';s not for professional developements, it's a leisure read

why don't bridlepaths with special bins for dogpoop also require equinefolk to clear up after themselves?

in flanders, cars and trucks slow down and give way to cyclists. for some uk riders in lycra, hiviz and possibly magic hats, this motorized behaviour is much trickier to process than having to ride on the other side of the road. it therefore takes longer for brainsofbritons to acclimatize, and leads to situations whereby car drivers have to smile and flash the second half of a group of be-lyclad britons across a junction, or chaps and chapesses on townbikes in wearing sensible clothes and dr who scarves overtaking hesitantly pootling groups of britons in larger flandrian towns.

some belgian chaingangs contain mountainbikes at this time of year, and have warning whistles.

fietsnet bike mapping is imho superior to new improved sustrans mapping.

at this point on ncn72 in the north of england, there's a year round puddle that is currently deeper than hubs, feet, panniers and bottom brackets. we may just possibly eventually be able to develop a high tech solution.

I read about this: years ago there was very high bone-meal content dog food and led to the phenomena above.

My observations:

Why doesn't Bluto eat the spinach then he can get rid of Pope-eye once and for all and give Olive Oyle what she really wants?

In my Tesco's there is a sign which says:
Quote:
We will happily accept coupons if you have bought the product. We are unable to accept coupons if you have not bought the product concerned.

Is this just saying the painfully obvious, ie you can't just cut a coupon off a box that's on the shelf of the shop and try to use it to get money off, or is there some alternative more useful meaning that's escaping me?

people do try and use the coupons for products other than the ones they're buying.  eg they would buy Persil, but try to use an Aeriel money-off coupon.

The red ones are biodegradable. Not that that excuses them leaving them around everywhere of course.
