Welcome to Justcycling

Started this thread to allow you new members to introduce yourselves before plunging headlong into the debate, look forward to your contributions. The Justcycling Forums started when the BBC cut the last batch of chat boards about 5 years ago it's fitting that we maybe come part of the solutiuon to the loss of 606 as well.

My name is Fontfroide, after the toughest col in my neighbourhood, Herault in the South of France.  I am old, but still ride quite often, just not so far and not so fast.  I am an American, a Brit and now getting to be a little bit French.  Welcome to the list.

I'm from the USA. More specifically, the San Francisco Bay Area in California.

This is a great peloton to hang with.

I like to bike.

(To Bart, I wish I thought of that comment first! Wink )

Thanks for that Bartali. I have been trying to use it somewhere, but the name always seems to be unavailable, even though I have never seen anyone actually use it!
Refugee from 606, browse more than post, but hope to change that ratio here.
Cycling mad-following, watching and touring (just finished the Southern Tier route across the States). Now looking forward to the Manchester Track World Cup, the  Spring Classics, and to get back up to the Lake District to ride the passes again.

I'm in my 40s. I have:

One cat.
One kid.
One wife (soon to have).

But possess quite a few bikes  Laughing . Ms Guiness also cycles. Great partnership in many respects.  Very Happy

Oh, for new members - I run a year long competition where you can pick the likely - or unlikely - winners for most of the top races.  Check out the Smarauder Memorial Trophy threads.  We start with HeT Volk (or whatever it's called now - can't spell it Laughing ) at the end of February.

Is it worthwhile explaining McQuaids Office to the newbies?

In short, any controversial stuff should be discussed there.

Guten Morgan

I'm another refugee from 606. Not the worlds biggest cycling fan but since being guided by the regulars on 606 through TdF and the Vuelta I'm now making an effort to watch more and more races (Thanks Eurosport). But I have to admit I'm stricly an armchair racer.

Reason for that is that I am a full time House Husband with two small poeple to look after (Mini Snaplegs 1 is 5 and Mini Snaplegs 2 is just 8 weeks old) whilst Mrs Snaplegs serves Queen and Country with the Senior Service.

My main interests are Land Rovers (have two, one off-road at the minute as it blew up it's engine) and I'm in the middle of a full rebuild of a vintage caravan (Nicknamed Rosie). We have an aspiration that the caravan will be on the slopes of one the major climbs of the TdF - one day.

I'm not a prolific poster but the assistance given by the 606 elite has given greater enjoyment of the sport - hope you guys/girls can do the same when it expires, I'll try and contribute too. Hopefully some more of the 606 regulars will migrate to here too (See Goblinf and King of the Wolds are on here Wink ).
