Thanks Huw

A little quiz...

http://www.velon.cc/en/news/2017/04/giro-d-italia-2017-quiz-part-one

http://www.velon.cc/en/news/2017/04/giro-d-italia-2017-quiz-part-two

Honestly?  7/10 part 1 - 9/10 part 2

Bardiani's Giro team caught with a double doping whammy:

http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/g...ve-in-out-of-competition-control/

Terrible news after all the fuss about Giro wildcards and a period of relative calm. Sad

FPs for the jerseys and the first week are here

http://justcycling.myfastforum.org/about5461.html

Giro is starting on Friday this year at noonish Italian time. Picks before then please, but as it's most likely a sprint stage a little bit of leeway will probaly do no harm.

Providing nobody of note crashes out or loses time, I think we can afford to leave the jersey competition open until Saturday.
The race gets underway soon and so far we are only 6.

What an odd finish to a pedestrian stage.

Bora's Lukas Pöstlberger rides away to pinch pink while the sprinters mill around looking for non existent lead outs.

The only real GC guy to lose any time was Steven Kruijswijk and that was just 13 seconds.

Hugh Carthy lost 1'-09" along with Seb Reichenbach and the above's main lead out man.
The Latern Rouge or Ivan Quaranta climbing award goes to the Matteo Pelucchi.
That boy only has to think Giro and he's out the back.

just saw the highlights, he kept looking back expecting to see another rider on his wheel but no one was there. postlberger for most of it didn't seem sure whether he should keep going or wait up for the peloton.

thought he might have blown it at the end when he sat up so soon

Only got to see it this morning but yesterday was an odd stage alright, but nice to see a lesser light get the win and the glory.

Just watching the build up now (yes that really is Jonathan Edwards) and it may not be a sprinters day at all. Most of us seem to have FP'd fast men but those interviewed seem to be playing down the chances of a big sprint.  I think my Ewan pick is already a busted flush...

We have our answer.

There are close to 200 riders in the laughing group, today.
Half an hour behind the slowest schedule.
Only Sam Bennett in a spot of bother due to illness.

I was wondering about the pace they're doing. The 3 channels I have that are carrying it are all due to go off air long before they'll finish. Will the TV people will bother sticking around on a Saturday evening?

A bit of "excitement" for the KoM points.

Surprised that the likes of Quintana, Landa and Yates are wired up for live TV data including power. Thought that was more guarded for the GC contenders. Maybe more open on inconsequential days?

Katusha were very well drilled on getting him back. Was a bit more than 30s with 5km to go.

Well, at least the winner today was a favourite.
Greipel gets it right, the rest, mostly wrong.
Geraint Thomas beats "foot out" Caleb Ewan.
Gaviria completely out-paced by two second tier sprinters.
Ferrari? Only at the Giro. Laughing

2 sprint stages and 2 strange results.
